Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Figure 01

A sebaceous hyperplasia is a growth that results from the multiplication of cells that forms the oil glands, also called sebaceous glands. They can appear as single or multiple growths and are usually found on the face. They are dome shaped, pinhead to pencil eraser sized, and flesh to pink colored, and can sometimes resemble a nodular basal cell carcinoma. A sebaceous hyperplasia is not a precancerous growth.
